Number and Date Based Criteria

The Criteria Select screen has different options depending on the format of the criteria:

Number Based Criteria

Numeric criteria, for example, Cigarettes Smoked, have the following options:

  • Equals
  • Not Equals
  • Range
  • Less
  • Greater

Additional Options

Depending on the attribute selected, for example, Communication numbers there are additional search options.

Contains and Not Contains

These options can be used to search on an area code, for example:

Note - Spaces need to be included, for example, if you are searching '020 7501 7000', you should enter '7501 7000' not '75017000'.

Starts With

The Starts With option can be useful to identify patients where a mobile number has been entered as a home number.

Date Criteria

For example, Date of Event or Date of Birth, have the following options:

  • Equals
  • Not Equals
  • Range
  • Before
  • After
  • Null

Range/After/Before - When entering date ranges the Vision 3 can calculate dates by working from Today, use the abbreviation T and "+" or "-" X years/months/weeks/days.

Date Abbreviations

  • T - Today
  • Y - Years
  • M - Months
  • W - Weeks
  • D - Days

To search for 6 months either side of today, use T+6m and T-6m. If you save the search, next time you run this the dates do not need changing, as it always looks for 6 months either side of today.

If you want to search for under fives, select Date of Birth, enter T-5y (today minus five years) and tick After.

To find patients aged between 25 and 65, the Date of Birth would have a range T-65y and T-25y.

The Inclusive box is checked by default, this includes the date you have entered. If unchecked, then the range starts from the next day.
